Procedure
FREE – Initial Sitting Includes
- To go over what you want your portrait goals to be.
- Meeting with the subject (if other than the person hiring the portrait) to get to know them and their personality.
- Discussing: Size, Medium, & Prices
- Set approximate time frame for completion *(Date will be set once initial deposit is paid)
Initial 1/2 Deposit due to start work will include:
- Reserving your time slot
- Any photography fees/sessions if not working from life
- Time planning and corresponding to come up with your perfect portrait
- If appropriate, especially if a complex or very large painting, this will include a drawing in the final size of the painting – to work out any design details.
- An appointment will be made with the client to review the drawing
- Any drawing changes must be made at this point.
- If appropriate, on larger paintings, I will continue onto a small color study. When this is approved, I will then start on the final painting.
- A meeting will be set up just before the portrait is finished – to make any corrections. All minor changes that are needed will be made.
- At this point, if the subject has not been painted from life, a few sessions will be scheduled to make sure I have captured the subject correctly.
NOTE:The more sessions from life, the higher quality the painting, but with other demands, sitting is not always available. I do still suggest a minimum of 3 live session when working from photos.
When the final portrait is completed, the final payment is due.
For a little something extra:
- Framing – I can help you choose your own custom frame or if you wish I can choose once for you. I can find the perfect frame that looks like a million bucks on your portrait that fits your taste and your budget. Anything from a simple custom frame to a hand carved gold gilded frame.
- If you wish, planning sketches, charcoal drawings, and color studies are available for an additional fee.
- Giclee Prints may be made if others would like a copy of the original painting. Price will vary depending on the quantity and size. (NOTE: Artists holds all copyrights to all images and print may NOT be made with out artists approval.)
- Additional fees may apply for travel if more then 1 hour outside of the St.Paul/Minneapolis area. I am open to traveling to all locations.
