“Dear Santa”
Oil on Canvas
28×34
2008
Private Collection
Santa here, is the second santa in my series. After a huge request, I did one more. This one came from hearing the kids ask Santa, “Do you read my letter?” YES! Yes he does! He is a lovely moment in time of Santa in his study, with the journals of all the kids in the background, about to read his next letter from another child.

Framed $2500
This image was requested by Kelley Frame & Fine Art Gallery for their Holiday Open House/ anniversary party. They wanted something Christmas like, I said, Can it have a horse? and viola! Thanks to my dear friend Cassandra and her horse Val, we were able to get this shot. I think it would be fun to ride in a one horse open sleigh. (yes, that song was stuck in my head the whole time) ~~Dashing through the snow~~ in a one horse open sleigh~~ Yup, here it is!

This is my favorite still life I ever painted. I love anything Italian, maybe since I was born there, not sure why. So the colors of red white and green, always work for me! I wanted to paint this vase. This is my favorite vase, and I can not tell you how many times people have asked to buy it from me. NO! It is mine! ha ha! This painting all started with the vase, then I found an olive branch, then an original first edition copy of the classic book, “The Godfather” – has to toss that in. I then grabbed a red rose for the romantic theme of the movie. My friend came into my studio and said “I know just the thing you need to add to this!” she came running back with this horse head cast. I loved it!! The part that totally makes this painting, is the eerie reflection of the horse head in the vase.

“My Skates”
Oil on Canvas
9×12
2008
Original Available
Framed $900
My brothers all wanted to take up hockey, so we went out to all buy skates, I came home with the nicest pair. RBK 8k’s – nicest skate at the time. What does that matter? Not much. To this date, I have only made it around the ice rink about 3 times, and with the help of those little granny walkers. hmmm…. so yes, I decieded to paint them. I just LOVE the soft touch of the pink blade covers, and the purple silk fabric, against the hard tough skates. Yes, this is me. And these are, MY Skates.
“My Skates” was choosen for the 2010 Patti’s Choice show for the month of October at Robbin Gallery, in Robbinsdale MN.

A follow up from the painting Leslie at 8 months Here is Leslie and her daughter Hazel. This entire painting was done from life, and we had to change may things as we went along as Hazel was growing. When we started Hazel was 3 months old, when we finished she was 9 months. If you have kids, you know a lot can happen in 6 months! How do you paint a portrait of a baby from life? Easy, one day at a time, and be very creative to find ways to get them to look in the same direction. If you can call that easy.
I titled this painting, “Good Morning Sunshine” as that is what my mother would say to us when she went to wake us up in the morning for school. I can still hear her voice sing it.

“Dually”
Oil on Canvas
2007
11×11
Collection of Robb and Gail Simpson
Dually is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog. People can say that painting a black dog is hard, and people can say that painting a lot of fur is hard, but I had more fun with all those big brushstrokes on this one, it makes me want to paint more dogs! I am so used to horses, that this was fun!
Unfortunately, soon after painting Dually, he passed away. We are grateful that we had the opportunity to love him in life, and now he will be forever remembered. We miss you Dually!
